The Core Committee
The Symposium Core Committee is the driving force behind the 2009 Symposium. Our job is vitally important to the success of the day. We began working in February of this year and will continue throughout the summer and fall to ensure a successful event. This year's committee consists of ten undergraduate business students, and we are responsible for designing, planning, and implementing the 24th Annual Undergraduate Business Symposium.
Corporate Relations (Luke Brown & Caldwell Zimmerman)
The Corporate Relations committee manages all of the external contact with executives before Symposium. This includes:
* Solicit businesses to sponsor Symposium.
* Explain sponsorship levels to businesses.
* Maintain communication with sponsors.
* Plan, organize, and train Core members on preparation workshops for students prior to Symposium weekly.
* Prepare materials to students about careers and/or networking.
Registration Managers (Angel Napit & Jessy O'Connell)
The Registration Manager committee maintains good relations with the Kenan-Flagler faculty and staff. This includes:
* Coordinate overall volunteer recruitment, selection, assignments and manage registration volunteers.
* Register students for Symposium and assign to panels.
* Assemble and coordinate dispersion and collection of student packets and evaluations of the event.
Recruitment Managers (Lisa Chen & Rachel Namm & Richard Shore)
The Recruitment Manager committee plans the detailed minute-by-minute breakdown of the 2-day event. This includes:
* Manage the panels, workshops and keynote for Symposium.
* Serve as liaison to executives and faculty; Serve as a contact for keynote.
* Create sessions for the day (in consultation with Core/advisors).
* Invite executives; Select and coordinate executive host volunteers.
* Solicit panel moderators (faculty members); Promote good relations between Core and faculty.
Operations Managers (Allie Efland & Lindsey Spitz)
The Operation Manager committee controls all promotion activities related to Symposium. This includes:
* Coordinate and execute the operations for the executive dinner and Symposium event.
* Reserve space (classrooms, meals); Transportation (buses).
* Meals (dinner & reception, breakfast, lunch (menus, seating assignments)).
* Invite special guests (update special guest list, design and send invitations).
* Reserving tables, chairs and linens for panel sessions.
* Coordinate operations volunteers.
Marketing Managers (Fei Chi & Vincent Delille)
The Registration committee controls all student registration activities related to Symposium. This includes:
* Develop and implement creative and innovative ideas through a comprehensive marketing plan.
* Keep students informed about all aspects of Symposium.
* Issue press releases; Create program/signs; Arrange for photographers; Coodinate publicity volunteers.
Information Technology Manager (Mike Doubintchik)
The Information Technology Manager controls all of the technology and information management needs of the Core Committee. This includes:
* Maintaining and updating the Symposium website.
* Creating a data management system.
* Ensuring good internal communication through available channels.
* Managing Symposium Budget.
